At Together We Grow Kids OT, an Individual Assessment is conducted at the commencement of therapy. This is to better understand your child's needs and allow for goals to be prioritised and a therapy plan to be made.
An assessment summary is provided which outlines the main Assessment findings and goals. A comprehensive report can be requested also.
An Initial Assessment may include:
Parent/Carer Questionnaire/Interview
Child observations/task analysis of functional skills.
Goal setting and Therapy planning
An assessment can take place at your home or via Telehealth.
Following the Initial Assessment, goals will be prioritised in collaboration with the child's parents/caregivers and a suitable therapy plan will be made.

Together We Grow Kids OT practises the Developmental, Relationship Based Approach called DIR Floortime® approach as the basis of all therapy intervention.
DIR Floortime® is a holistic approach to working with children with learning and developmental challenges.
Key aspects of this approach:
A personalised approach, focusing on the integration of all developmental areas (i.e. social, emotional, motor, sensory, language and cognitive as well as the interplay of family relationships)
Applies play-based therapy and sensory-motor techniques as a foundation to support children in their development of functional skills.
Focuses on building strong foundational skills at the earlier levels of development, such as engaging with others, social reciprocity and purposeful communication to support later stages of development such as problem solving, connecting ideas and developing a sense of self.
Parents are considered the most integral part of this approach.
Supporting the child in becoming a regulated, intentional and logical thinker.
Supporting children in their exploration of their emotions and developing a sense of self.
Encourages the child to be driven by internal emotions through natural interactions with caregivers within familiar environments, rather than being driven by a “reward system”.
Together We Grow Kids OT is qualified to practise the SOS® (Sequential Oral Sensory) Feeding Approach, which is an evidence based feeding program with 30 years clinical experience, helping children to learn the skills they need to eat well.
The intervention has an intensive and general treatment strategies program that is beneficial for:
Infants, children and/or adolescents with or without a developmental delay and/or disability
Children who have a restricted range of foods they can tolerate
Refuse entire categories of food texture/nutrition groups
Have to eat a different meal from the rest of the family
Are underweight or at risk of becoming underweight due to limited food intake
Find mealtimes distressing
